Rig AD-1 is a DRECO “Space-Saver” drilling & workover rig that was purchased in 2007. It was designed and built in 1982 by Dreco Inc., USA. The rig worked in the southern gas fields off Gt. Yarmouth where space on platforms was at a premium. Although it was designed for North Sea platform work, it also successfully completed an 11,500 ft well on a very restricted location on the Faroe Islands.
The rig was upgraded and completely overhauled in 2007 and 2009 with the addition of a new BOP, mud pumps, power generators, NOV TDS 10SA topdrive and new shakers.
The rig was mobilized to Mann Oil Field in Central Myanmar on 26 July 2007 and successfully drilled ( 3 ) wells. It was demobilized to Tharketa Offshore Base on 12 January 2008.
The rig was mobilized for Interra Resources to drill in Mae Sot, Tak, Thailand on 25 October 2009. The MS-1 well was spudded on 14 November 2009 and completed in December 2009. AD-1 was further contracted to drill two wells for Carnarvon Petroleum ( Thailand ) Ltd., in March 2011.
Compact modular component design, each component weighing less than 20,000 lbs. Rig can be positioned and operated on a variety of platforms & locations
Universal design permits pipe rack, mud pumps, mud tanks and dog house to be located in whatever position best suits the platform / location upon which the rig is working
Completely self contained with pumps, tanks, topdrive, engines and necessary equipment
Provides a quick and cost effective solution for both onshore / offshore workovers
Within the regions of South-East Asia & South Asia,
drilling activities have risen at record levels.
Many areas are in the middle of major offshore
expansions. Previous high oil prices have resulted
in many new oilfield projects being developed. This
has led to very tight rig availability and high rig
day rates. As a result of this situation that there
are currently very few options available for
low cost or short duration
drilling and workover operations.
Asia Drilling Pte. Ltd.
is a drilling contractor whose aim is to
provide low cost, flexible solutions to both onshore
/ offshore drilling & workover operations.
